Calperum and the Environment

CALPERUM & THE ENVIRONMENT (CATE)
This Joint District (D9500 & D9520) Committee has overseen Rotary’s environment activities in our area for many years, concentrating much work at Calperum Station (a world recognised conservation project of the Australian Landscape Trust) just north of Renmark. In addition, various activities previously operated under the banners of ROBIN (Bird boxes), ACRE (Rabbit Eradication), and PPE (Preserve Planet Earth) are now incorporated into CATE.

To best focus on projects of interest to Rotarians, various CATE ‘Captains’ have recently been appointed. As new additional areas of focus emerge, further Captains will be recruited.

As at June 2019 the following Rotarians are points of contact for CATE, and any further environmental activities should be directed to the appropriate person in the first instant.

As our Environment has become a major issue, particularly in the minds of the next generations, Rotary has an obligation to assist wherever it can.
