From the District Governor
Welcome to the 2018-2019 Rotary year and your new look Herald!  Thanks to Rod Cooper for the new format and to those Rotarians who have provided content.  It has been a busy few weeks for Clubs and the District with changeovers and planning for the coming months.  Paul and I have enjoyed travelling around the District to attend Club changeovers and we look forward to our official Club visits starting on July 31st with the RC of St Peters.  The District is here to support you and your Club and one of those ways is to provide a forum for information sharing through our District publications.  The Herald, published the second Thursday of the month, will feature information on upcoming events and provide resources for strengthening our Rotary Clubs and programs.  The DG’s Newsletter, published the fourth Thursday of the month, will be a celebration of our District’s People of Action including stories on Club activities and Rotarians from across the District.  The success of these publications relies heavily on you – we need content that will inform, inspire and involve our Rotarians.  Details on who to send this information to and by when is located at the top of this newsletter.  So what are you waiting for?  Be the Inspiration!

Tip of the Month
Stay Connected with your Alumni
Who are Rotary alumni?  Alumni are people who have been been involved in one of Rotary's programs. These could include - Youth programs such as Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, youth exchange or National Youth Science Forum - former Rotaractors - members of Group Study Exchange teams - or former members of your Club. Staying in touch can be as easy as sending a Birthday card or an invitation to your Club or Committee's special event, including them on the distribution list for your bulletin, inviting them to be a guest speaker or as a participant in one of your projects. The important thing is to let your alumni know from the beginning that they are a valued member of the Rotary family and there are many opportunities for them to be involved as People of Action.
